The New York Yankees completed a sweep of the Boston Red Sox last night defeating the Sox 5-2 in the last game of the four game series. The Sox have been in a mini-slump losing the last six games on the road. The last time the Red Sox have lost seven games in a row was in 2001. Beginning August 10th, the Red Sox will take on the Detroit Tigers for a four game series at Fenway Park. The Yankees have a 6.5 game lead over the second place Red Sox in the AL East Division. Meanwhile, New York will begin a three game series with Division rivals Blue Jays.
